Boom Chuck Brunch with Amanda Thorstad
4th Sunday of Every Month (usually, check calendar below!)
10:30am - 12pm
Playing an instrument is great, but how do you play with others? That’s precisely what we will learn!
We will focus on two tunes at beginner-friendly tempos.
You can pick up the melody by ear at the workshop or prepare it in advance. Notation & tab is available upon registration to students who request it.
This workshop is specifically designed for adults who know the basics on their instrument, but haven’t ventured out to any jams - yet. It is best suited for fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar players.
The workshop starts at 11:00, but come at 10:30 for coffee & socializing! Coffee and baked goods provided! 4426 Regent St. in Duluth.
Music Theory Cafe at the Northerly
Sign up for one or both:
-Session I: October 18th, 10-11 AM SCALES: Major and Pentatonic … and what even is a scale??
-Session II: November 8th, 10-11 AM CHORDS: Major, Minor … and what is that I, IV, V business people keep bandying about?
Welcome to the Music Theory Cafe with Amanda Thorstad!
If you've ever been confused about how scales work, what's going on with a chord, and how we translate dots and lines into rhythm, this one is for you.
The Music Theory Cafe is designed for adults who already play an instrument, but feel a bit fuzzy about the fundamentals.
Leave your instrument at home! We will use the studio keyboards to demonstrate and learn.
Just bring your thinking cap and a notebook, and we’ll hand you a muffin and a cuppa’ something warm to fuel your brain.
